As we approach the Coronation weekend of King Charles III and Queen Camila, Soho got a surprise from members of the Royal Family!
With plans to have celebratory Coronation themed drinks on the Roof Terrace yesterday evening, we were informed by members of the MET Police that the Dog & Duck Pub, located on the corner of Frith Street and Bateman Street in Soho, were expecting a visit from the Prince and Princess of Wales – Prince William and Kate Middleton!
Their first official Royal visit in light of the Coronation, they traveled on the Elizabeth Line to Dean Street and walked their way to the Dog & Duck via Soho Square to pour a pint of ‘Kingmaker’ Beer. The visit was made to show support for hospitality workers who will be working throughout the Coronation weekend, as millions begin to arrive in the capital to celebrate the occasion!
After finishing their drinks, they both graciously greeted the crowds making their way up to outside our office, The Tapestry Building, before making a swift exit! Prince William made a particular effort with the Tapestry team, making conversation with the Marketing Manager and Managing Director, in which he recognised and showed appreciation for the window decor! He was in no rush to move along, taking interest in Tapestry and what the business entails – it was a very pleasant and genuine conversation! Our team were lucky to have got some photos and videos of him acknowledging Tapestry, and needless to say, we were all left a little starstruck!
Later that evening, our in-house team made their way to the Roof Terrace to indulge in some british-themed food and drink to recognise and celebrate the Coronation, and as the sun began to set over the Soho skyline, it was a lovely end to a surprising, and fun-filled day!
