Saturday marked the first day of the Lunar New Year, and with it, we welcomed in the Year of the Dragon! Chinese New Year is a festival that celebrates the beginning of the twelve month lunisolar Chinese calendar, and each year is associated with an animal from the zodiac. This year celebrates the fifth animal in the Zodiac, the Dragon, which is an Earth sign representing resilience, confidence, good fortune and power!
In collaboration with Nike’s Year of the Dragon Collection, the men’s and women’s first teams at Chelsea Football Club are wearing their exclusively designed pre-match training jerseys with an iconic Dragon crest to commemorate the celebration! Throughout the decades, the Blues have achieved much success and silverware within the years of the Dragon, first proving to be a good omen back in 1964. At a recent match, the Stamford Bridge crowd of over 39,000 were treated to a half-time performance with a live dragon dance accompanied by traditional live Chinese music!
